Sony Makes Available Latest Addition to High Zoom Camera Line

Sony announced a new contender for the top spot in its high zoom, high resolution and speed camera line. The 9.1 megapixel Cyber-shot will sell in the $400 range and will be the perfect choice for people who are looking for a good midrange DSC-H50 digital camera.
This model utilizes a powerful Carl Zeiss 15x optical zoom lens that employs optical image stabilization. This feature allows the camera to capture action shots at a distance. The lens produces very sharp, slightly high-contrast images and significantly reduces color fringing, even when shooting using a telephoto lens.

Another nice thing about this camera is that it has a generously sized three-inch tilting LCD screen. This feature makes it easy to shoot comfortably from just about any position.

The improved advanced sports shooting mode is also a nice feature on this camera as it employs a system that permits it to apply high shutter speeds, of up to 1/4000 of a second, more frequently than could be done with previous models. This feature allows for continuous auto-focusing so that the camera can be focused quickly, allowing the capture of fast-moving subjects with very minimal shutter lag.

While this camera can be used solely employing automatic settings, it also features a wide range of manual controls as well, including an exposure bracketing mode that includes settings for both white balance and color modes. For the photographer who is not quite comfortable using all of the manual settings yet, the camera incorporates intelligent features that allow it to be used pretty much as a ‘point and click' model.

Whatever your level of expertise is right now, this camera will make an excellent addition to your equipment inventory, especially when faced with photographing fast-moving sports type events, where you have a minimum amount of time to frame the shot and just have to point and go if you want to have any chance of capturing the action.

The H50 model will begin on sale in May and will retail for about $400, with a full line of accessory options. It can be purchased at a variety of locations, including online at Amazon.com and at retail outlets worldwide.
