Review of the Canon i850 Photo Printer

Sunday, July 6, 2008 @ 18:20

If you are looking for a photo printer that is reasonably priced, yet will do a fair job of printing a variety of color and black and white photos, the Canon i850 might be the right printer for you.

This printer can handle up to 4,800 by 1,200 dpi color photos, and 600 x 600 dpi black. It also prints up to 22 ppm in black, and 14 ppm color, with a 4-by-6-inch photo generated in just 48 seconds

The nice thing about this printer is that it has four individually replaceable ink tanks, which means that you don't have to replace all four at the same time. You can just replace, for example, the black ink, as that will probably tend to run out far more frequently than the other colors.

The printer features microscopic 2-picoliter droplets, and its photo lightfast technology helps photos last for approximately 25 years.

Of course, there are better units out in the marketplace, mainly in terms of speed, but then you'll pay a lot more for them. For the money, this printer is one of the best I've tried, far superior to the comparable HP model in terms of speed, quality and ink supply costs. It is also superior to Epson with regard to ease of use, quality of reproduction, speed and cost-effectiveness of operation. Ink replacements are easily obtainable and relatively inexpensive.

Check Amazon to get the best price, since they will vary by individual vendor.

You can't go wrong with the Canon i850 Photo Printer since it's a great overall value for the price.
