Surreal photography is the art of taking photographs of a fantasy world by using ordinary objects and presenting them in a most extraordinary manner. When done correctly, the fantasy worlds created in the photographs represent the cutting edge of artistic imaging.
This book, written by Barry Huggins and Ian Probert, will teach you exactly how to shoot surreal photography. It is not just a book full of some great tips, but it's a fun book to go through as well. In this full-color 192-page work, the authors take the reader on a journey from the practical matters of what type of gear you need and great ideas on how get started in this rather unique genre. The authors include some 645 photographs and each one is generously captioned with information as to the specific techniques they used to shoot the photo and to achieve the desired effects.
The book is very well put together and clearly written. Since it contains so many tutorials and ideas, even the relative beginner can extract some good information out of it. Since there are so many examples of surreal photography highlighted throughout the book, there has to be an idea or two that will appeal to just about everybody.
Surreal Digital Photography takes the conventions of traditional digital photography and moves them into the realm of digital art and the authors take the reader step by step through the process.
We highly recommend this book for anyone who is itching to take their photography into a new realm and perhaps even combine it with a love for fine art.
