Wildlife Magazine wants to showcase the work of new and experienced photographers in their latest photo contest. For a very reasonable entry fee of $15, photographers can submit their work in any of the six categories:
1. Mammals: Both Portraits and Behavior
2. Birds: Both Portraits and Behavior
3. Other Wildlife: Portraits and Behavior (includes underwater life, reptiles, amphibians, insects and others)
4. Backyard Habitats: Wild Creatures, Native Plants and Natural Settings in Your Yard
5. Connecting People and Nature: People Enjoying the Outdoors
6. Landscapes and Plant Life: Scenic Views and Native Plants in Wild Settings
With over $18,000 in cash prizes on offer, including a $5,000 grand prize, this is one of the photo competitions that attracts quite a bit of talent. There are separate divisions for professionals, amateurs and youth entries and for the same $15 application fee, you can submit up to twenty photographs in any combination of the six categories noted above.
All entrants will receive a one-year membership in the National Wildlife Federation, which includes a subscription to the National Wildlife Magazine.
With the submission deadline of July 1st 2008 looming, now is time to get started. With all of the great prizes on offer in this particular contest, including both cash and some great camera equipment and other gifts, this is one contest that draws a lot of interest from all levels of the photographic community. With the exposure available to winners by their inclusion in a portfolio of the winning entries that is published in the December / January issue of Wildlife Magazine, this is one of the most competitive photo contests around, and it is one that is almost a guarantee of a major career boost for the lucky category winners. For such a modest entry fee of $15, it would almost be a crime not to enter.
